Queens Centers for Progress to Host Broadway-Themed Gala Marking 76 Years
The nonprofit will present its anniversary celebration at Terrace on the Park in Jamaica, New York.
Queens Centers for Progress will celebrate its 76th Anniversary Gala on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the iconic Terrace on the Park. This Broadway-themed event will honor the organization's journey from its founding in 1950 to its position today as a leader in advocacy, empowerment, and community inclusion for people with developmental disabilities.
Since its inception, QCP has evolved from a small group of dedicated parents and advocates into a comprehensive provider of services that reach more than 1,200 individuals annually. Over three-quarters of a century, QCP has expanded its programs to include early childhood education, vocational training, residential services, and innovative therapies, all designed to help individuals with developmental disabilities achieve greater independence and quality of life.
Throughout its history, QCP has been at the forefront of change-pioneering inclusive education, advocating for disability rights, and building partnerships that have transformed lives across Queens. Its impact is seen in the thousands of children and adults who have found opportunities, community, and hope through its programs.
This year's gala will honor two distinguished leaders whose professional excellence and community engagement reflect QCP's mission:
-
Runi Mehta, Managing Director and Market Executive at Flagstar Bank, is a seasoned banking professional with more than two decades of experience spanning global financial institutions. She has held senior roles at Santander Bank, Citibank, and ICICI Prudential, earning recognition for her client-focused approach and leadership in relationship management. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Mehta is deeply engaged in civic and philanthropic efforts, serving as Chair of the Bankers & Accountants Committee for Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC and participating in organizations such as the Central Park Conservancy and Lincoln Center Corporate Fund.
-
Jason I. Miller, Partner at Otterbourg P.C., is a highly respected attorney in the firm's Banking and Finance Department. He represents a wide range of financial institutions in complex lending transactions and has served as lead counsel on thousands of deals totaling more than $10 billion in committed capital. Recognized by Legal 500, Super Lawyers, and the Secured Finance Network, Miller is also a committed advocate for pro bono work and charitable causes, supporting organizations such as Fabulous and Fighting and Water Collective.
Adding to the evening's Broadway theme, the gala will feature a special performance by the QCP Players, the organization's theater program. The group will present a musical number from their upcoming production of Annie Kids, showcasing the talents and creativity of individuals served by QCP.
“Our Summer Gala is always a highlight of the year, bringing together our community to celebrate the achievements of those who support our mission. We are proud to honor Runi Mehta and Jason Miller for their leadership and commitment, and we're especially excited to spotlight the incredible talents of our QCP Players,” says QCP Executive Director Terri Ross.
This event will bring together community leaders, supporters, and advocates to honor individuals making a significant impact in Queens and beyond. The evening will feature dinner, awards presentations, and a celebration of QCP's legacy of service.
The event is being held on Tuesday, June 2, with a VIP reception at 5;30 PM and general admission from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Terrace on the Park at 52-11 111th Street, Corona. To register or for more information, visit https://fundraise.givesmart.com/e/DRUvyw?vid=1qaqg6.
