Phoenix Theatre Announces A VERY PHOENIX XMAS 13: MERRY SUPERSTITIOUS

It's the 13th season for this annual holiday tradition! A Very Phoenix Xmas 13: Merry Superstitious is a marvelous mix of music, sketch comedy, and dance that celebrates of all the holidays. Ben Asaykwee, artistic director of Q Artistry, brings his prodigious talents as a director to this year's production. Phoenix Playwright-in-residence Tom Horan curated the 60 to 70 script submissions for the coveted seven or eight sketch slots in the two-act, two-hour production.

A Very Phoenix Xmas is a rowdy, raucous way to celebrate the holidays outside of the traditional holiday fare. In previous iterations, the Phoenix holiday show has paid homage to Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa as well as reflected the political and social climate of the moment. In the style of Saturday Night Live, A Very Phoenix Xmas brings together the very best of sketch comedy with traditional songs of the holidays as well as original musical creations.

Many of Indianapolis' most beloved theater artists have preformed in the Phoenix holiday show over the years. Each season, the cast has included Phoenix Theatre veterans as well as artists who work in many other theater musical venues around the city. This year Ben Asaykwee made a bold move and cast the entire show with women! Don't miss this wonderful holiday production that is powerful antidote to the traditional holiday offerings.
