Pedro Luis Ferrer to Release LA BUNGA Album on Dot Time Records
Lena Ferrer joins her father on vocals and percussion for the album, recorded in Havana and Miami.
Cuban singer-songwriter, composer, poet and multi-instrumentalist Pedro Luis Ferrer is releasing La Bunga, a new 14-track album, on Dot Time Records on August 28, 2026. The album is cataloged as Dot Time Records DT9196, UPC code 604043919628.
Rooted in son, trova, guaracha and other Afro-Cuban traditions, Ferrer's music has never been about simply preserving the past. He researches it, absorbs it and transforms it, combining traditional musical forms with contemporary ideas, memorable melodies, lyrical wit and an unmistakably personal outlook. 'I am my own version of what is Cuban. I am my own version of son. I am my own version of trova. I am even my own version of the Cuban revolution.' That sense of individuality lies at the heart of La Bunga.
Ferrer performs on the album alongside his daughter Lena Ferrer, whose vocals, percussion and marimbula add another dimension to the music. Their voices create compelling harmonies that connect the intimacy of family with the wider musical history from which their work emerges.
All music and lyrics on La Bunga were written by Pedro Luis Ferrer. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Ferrer in Havana and Miami — two cities whose histories are themselves closely intertwined with Cuban music and culture. The album was produced by Pedro Luis Ferrer.
