Portraiture, Citizenship, and Abstraction - A Social Art Project with Teens | Nov. 23, 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
This 90-minute workshop for teens helps them discover new ways of thinking about identity and culture by working with contemporary conceptual artist Pedro Lasch. Lasch is a faculty member at the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies and associate research professor of art, art history and visual studies at Duke University. During the workshop, participants will use Lasch's specially designed mirror masks to connect the collections of the National Portrait Gallery with personal concerns, as well as broader topics like abstraction and social justice.
