Nancy Anderson Plays Metropolitan Room, 11/14, 11/28
Drama Desk-nominee Nancy Anderson will play the Metropolitan Room this month.
"In 2003 acclaimed Broadway veteran Nancy Anderson took the New York club world by storm with her debut show. The one night only engagement had the sold out audience on their feet and the critics honoring her with the Backstage Bistro Award. Last August Nancy returned for a sold-out one night only show to celebrate the release of her debut CD titled Ten Cents a Dance and this November she offers two nights of tunes from her album at The Metropolitan Room," state press notes.
"Kittenish, brassy, innocent, romantic, intelligent, funny…Ten Cents a Dance is a full-bodied musical experience featuring favorites and lost treasures from one of music's most influential and cherished times; the 20's and 30's." Produced by Bill Daugherty and with Ross Patterson and Danny Whitby as her musical directors Nancy takes the listener on a journey back with such favorites as "The Trouble with Me is You", "My Romance", "But Not for Me", and the title track "Ten Cents a Dance."Anderson is a two time Drama Desk nominee for her work as the title character in the Off-Broadway productions of Fanny Hill and as all of the women in Jolson & Co. In 2002 she was honored with an Olivier Award nomination and a Helen Hayes Award nomination for her work as Bianca/Lois in Kiss Me Kate, also seen on PBS and available on DVD. Broadway audiences will remember her as Helen from Wonderful Town and Mona from A Class Act.
Anderson will be performing at The Metropolitan Room Tuesday, November 14th and Tuesday, November 28th at 9:30 pm. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 W. 22nd Street (between 5th and 6th Ave) in Manhattan. There is a $25 music charge plus a 2 drink minimum. Reservations can be made at 212-206-0440. Nancy will be joined by musical director Ross Patterson and his Little Big Band.
