Multi-Tony Award-winning screen-to-stage musical hit NEWSIES announced its closing date earlier this week and a new retrospective video featurette celebrating the many notable highs of the production over the years has been unveiled via the show's official Facebook page.

Another retrospective video was also posted earlier this week along with the message, "It's been an amazing journey on Broadway but our last performance in New York will be August 24. Come see us this summer before we hit the road and begin our North American Tour in October! We can't thank you enough for all the love and support."

The official description of NEWSIES on Broadway is as follows: "The big news on Broadway is NEWSIES! Winner of the 2012 Tony Awards for Best Original Score and Best Choreography, audiences and critics alike are calling it "SOMETHING WORTH SINGING ABOUT!" (The New York Times) Inspired by the real-life "Newsboys' Strike of 1899," NEWSIES is Disney's brand-new, New York musical about an unlikely band of underdogs who take on the biggest names in publishing in a remarkable fight for justice and fair pay. With an incredible breakout cast and the best singing and dancing on Broadway, NEWSIES has quickly become "THE TALK OF THE TOWN!" (Newsweek). This "IRRESISTABLE, HIGH-ENERGY WINNER!" (Entertainment Weekly) is the work of an accomplished and talented creative team. Featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Disney Legend Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein, this dynamic smash hit showcases Tony Award-winning choreography by Christopher Gattelli and is directed by Tony Award nominee Jeff Calhoun."

NEWSIES is currently playing on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre.
