Just weeks ago we learned which talented contestants will move forward to the finale of Next On Stage, sponsored by AMDA and Atlantic Acting School! The Top 3 are getting ready to show us what they've got in New York City, as they prepare to perform at the famed 54 Below.

Learn more about the competition.

Who will win the competition? You'll have to tune into the live finale on Sunday, January 18 (12pm ET) to find out! Until then, we are getting to know the students one by one. Meet High School contestant Ava Greenberg from Madison, Wisconsin.

What do you love the most about performing?

What I love most about performing is the connection it creates. Through music and story, people are able to feel something meaningful together and share that experience with the people beside them. I also love being a mentor for younger performers who are beginning their own artistic journey -- I have had many mentors who have helped me immensely and so it is really important for me to do the same for others. When I am performing, I feel like I am sharing important parts of who I am with others and it is something I know I will continue throughout my whole life!

What's a role that you'd love to play someday and why?

Currently, I’m playing Eurydice in Hadestown at my school, and I’ve loved exploring how layered and emotionally complex she is and sharing that vulnerability onstage. It would be an honor to reprise that role again in a professional production. As far as dream roles go, that list is definitely long, but I’d love to take on the iconic Fanny Brice in Funny Girl or Jenna in Waitress when I’m older.

Is there a theatre educator who has had a big impact on you as a performer?

There are so many teachers who have shaped me over the years. Roseann Sheridan, the Artistic Director at Children’s Theater of Madison (as well as everyone on the CTM team) has been one of my most influential mentors for me. From directing shows I’ve been in to meeting for coffee to talk about life and share her endless wisdom, her support and mentorship has meant the world to me. I also want to highlight Abby Nichols, Katrina Brunner, and Jamie Pitt, all teachers who have been incredibly influential in my life. Each of them has believed in me and helped me grow, and I’m so grateful for their constant support. I love them all!

Share a fun fact about yourself!

I love to write my own music!
