Joe Sib Returns to New York City With CALIFORNIA CALLING, 10/13
Joe Sib is excited to return to New York City and The Bowery Electric (327 Bowery) on October 13th, 2011 for this intimate, one-night-only performance of California Calling. The one-man show is based on Sib's story of growing up in the early 1980's when the counterculture of skateboarding and punk rock hit the suburbs of California. Sib animates his verbal autobiography with 70+ photographs and limitless enthusiasm. It's a universal and classic story about how music has the power to shape and define lives. This special, one-off performance is presented by TheLaughButton.com and Broadway producer Jeff Davis.
Joe Sib is a modern day Renaissance man. He is co-founder of the independent record label SideOneDummy Records (Flogging Molly, Gogol Bordello, The Gaslight Anthem), host of "Complete Control Radio", which airs in seven different cities across the county. "Complete Control" is LA's famed and only dedicated punk rock radio show on 98.7FM.
"I believe that everyone, at one point in their life, has loved a band or a song so much that it has become an obsession. California Calling is about my obsession with music," says Sib. "It is my story about how music saved my life. Sounds heavy, right? Don't worry, it's not," Sib laughs. October 13th will mark the third time California Calling has made its way to NYC.
The critically acclaimed California Calling has seen a successful residency at the highly esteemed Largo at the Coronet Theatre in Los Angeles, several nationwide tour dates (including both music venues and Comedy Clubs), a headlining slot at the 2011 San Francisco Sketch Comedy Fest, and a sold-out headlining performance at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. Sib is excited to return to New York City and The Bowery Electric for this intimate one-night-only performance.
Jeff Davis is a notable and well-respected Broadway producer who has helped bring a dozen plays and musicals to the stagE. Davis is best known for his work with the hit musical Rock of Ages, which has recently been turned into a film starring Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Alec Baldwin, and Russell Brand. Rock of Ages: The Movie is slated for a 2012 release.
