Jovani Designs has combined the classic with cutting-edge in their current selection of short cocktail dresses. Jovani's collection of cocktail dresses is feminine, a favorite for celebrities in all areas of entertainment, from country music's Carrie Underwood and R&B singer Ashanti. Fashionistas in the United States and beyond take cues from these trendsetting celebs, purchasing the latest Jovani cocktail dresses as homecoming dresses, or in anticipation of upcoming holiday events.

Jovani's cocktail dresses include contemporary variations on the "little black dress", or LBD. With its irrefutable elegance, the LBD is a timeless favorite. It is a century-old staple in any fashionable lady's wardrobe, and its longevity and versatility has kept the garment a monetarily-sound choice for those that cannot afford new formal wear throughout the year. Coco Chanel, the couture figurehead who popularized the LBD decades ago, came from humble begins. The advancement of the dress was prompted by the idea that a woman could remain contemporary and occasion-appropriate during the harshest economic times.

In 2012, Jovani lends glamour to this concept with a series of gorgeous and glitzy black couture dresses. The designer offers a one-shoulder dress covered in jewels that run over the bust line and up and over the strap, as well as down the sides of the dress. A shoulder-less black dress with a sweetheart neckline is adorned with multi-colored gems, beaded fringe suspending from the hem. A simpler but just as exquisite piece features a sheer neckline, a flowing black skirt and a sparkling band at the waistline, for added emphasis.

Jovani has also gleaned inspiration from other early 20th-century styles, and this is reflected in additional current offerings. Tika Sumpter was recently clothed in a new gold sequin fringe cocktail dress for her photo spread in the November/December issue ofSheen magazine. This is a sumptuous, modern spin on the 1920s showgirl dress. There is no denying the dress' vintage origins, but the flapper idea is updated with lustrous gold fringe and a plunging V-neckline. A desirable party dress for any metropolitan socialite, this is one of several short gold dresses in Jovani's current cocktail lineup.

In addition to these innovative cocktail pieces, the latest series of Jovani prom dresses was recently uploaded to the designer's official website. Jovani's vintage-inspired designs also come in a variety of other colors. Popular shades include silver, pink, and purple. With these dresses, a Jovani customer will never appear dated. Rather, she will stand as a streamlined ambassador of classic fashion.
