Full Cast Set For OMEROS at Jermyn Street Theatre
Directed by Kwame Owusu and Emily Aboud, the 12-hour show features Fisayo Akinade and Paterson Joseph
Jermyn Street Theatre has announced full casting for its staging of Omeros by Derek Walcott, presented as an epic 12-hour, one-day theatrical event. Walcott’s iconic poem - following the stories of local fishermen in Saint Lucia exploring memory, trauma and identity - will be performed by a company of 30 actors appearing in relay throughout the day. The performance is set for Sunday 10 May 2026, from 11am.
The newly announced cast members include Michael Duke, Jim Findley, Valentine Hanson, Solomon Israel, Eloka Ivo, Gilbert Kyem Jr., Simon-Anthony Rhoden, Emeka Sesay, and Fode Simbo, who join Ronkẹ Adékọluẹ́jọ́, Selorm Adonu, Fisayo Akinade, Danny Bailey, Doreene Blackstock, Gabrielle Brooks, babirye buiklwa, Ashley Byam, Doña Croll, Ash Hunter, Terique Jarrett, Selina Jones, Paterson Joseph, Elander Moore, Tonderai Munyevu, Jessica Murrain, Cyril Nri, Ivan Oyik, Adjani Salmon, Cherrelle Skeete, and Tienne Simon.

Derek Walcott observes Achille, Philoctete and Hector. Three Caribbean fishermen in modern-day Saint Lucia who cross paths with soldiers and lovers, soothsayers and shopkeepers as they pursue their destinies. Soon, Walcott dives into the mysteries of these islanders, in a globe-spanning, time-jumping exploration of identity, love, loss, and history.
Beginning with The Odyssey and The Mahabharata before charging on with Ulysses and Beowulf, Jermyn Street Theatre now stages Nobel Laureate Derek Walcott’s groundbreaking poem, Omeros. Carne Deputy Director Kwame Owusu (Mustapha Matura Award Winner) and Emily Aboud (Evening Standard Future Theatre Award Winner) direct an exceptional cast - 30 actors passing the baton to each other in a thrilling relay over the course of the day, with new actors performing every 30 minutes.
