American Idol runner-up and HAIR vet Diana DeGarmo has tweeted casting news about her upcoming role in the 9 to 5 National Tour.

Degarmo tweeted: "It's official: I will be playing Miss Doralee Rhodes in the 1st Nat'l Tour of 9 to 5 The Musical :) plus, we open in NASHVILLE!!!"

Diana Nicole DeGarmo is an American singer and Broadway actress. She finished as the runner-up on the third season of the reality/talent-search television series American Idol, narrowly missing the win by about 2% (approximately 1.3 million votes) out of over 65 million votes.[1] At 16, DeGarmo was the second youngest contestant among the set of finalists in the third season after John Stevens; she was a junior at Shiloh High School in Snellville, Georgia. DeGarmo still remains the youngest contestant to ever make the top 2 in all 9 seasons of Idol.

She most recently starred as Sheila in the Broadway company of Hair until the show's closure on June 27, 2010.

With music and lyrics by Tennessee native Dolly Parton, who starred in the film version of the story, 9 to 5: The Musical 9 to 5: The Musical, opening at the Tennessee Performing Arts Center later this year. The show has been announced in the Chicago, Indianapolis and Atlanta markets. The tour will play Atlanta's Fox Theatre (presented by Theater of the Stars) in September of 2010, Clowes Hall in Indianapolis from January 11-16, 2011, and Broadway in Chicago's series from January 18-31, 2011.

The first launch of its kind at TPAC, the musical comedy, with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, will be rehearsed in Andrew Jackson Hall for several weeks, prior to opening the 2010-2011 season of HCA/TriStar Broadway at TPAC, September 21-26, 2010, and moving on to major cities nationwide.

The touring production will be directed and choreographed by Tony® nominated, Jeff Calhoun. The co-choreographer is Lisa Stevens, scenic design by Ken Foy, costume design by five time Tony Award® winner, William Ivey Long, lighting design by Tony® Award and Drama Desk Award winner, Ken Billington, music supervision by Stephen Oremus and casting by Telsey + Company.

Winner of seven Grammy Awards and named "Entertainer of the Year" by the Country Music Association in 1977, among hosts of honors, Dolly Parton won widespread acclaim for her first screen role in 9 to 5, co-starring with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as spirited office workers who considered themselves "just a step on the boss-man's ladder." In addition to the success of the film, her Grammy-winning title song struck a chord with millions of Americans. The catchy tune reached #1 on the country, pop and adult charts. The multi-talented Parton wrote 16 new songs for the stage musical and was actively involved in its development, marking her debut as a Broadway composer and lyricist.

Closely following the plot of the film, the musical comedy features three co-workers pushed to their boiling point by their boss. The trio hatches a plan to get even with their sexist, egotistical supervisor that quickly spins wildly and hilariously out of control. On Broadway, Violet Newstead the efficient office manager is played by Allison Janney, with Stephanie J. Block and Megan Hilty, respectively, as the frazzled divorcee Judy Bernly and the sexy executive secretary Doralee Rhodes (played by Parton in the film).
