Dee Hoty will partake of life's banquet when she takes on the title role of Mame at the MUNY in St. Louis from July 25th to 31st.

Mame, of course, is the Jerry Herman musical (based on the Patrick Dennis book and Jerome Lawrence/Robert E. Lee play) that finds the loving but eccentric title character introducing her nephew Patrick to her vibrant, hedonistic lifestyle.  The musical, which also boasts a book by Lawrence and Lee, ran for 1508 performances on Broadway after opening in 1966; it also netted Angela Lansbury a Best Actress in a Musical Tony.

Hoty is a three-time Tony-nominee--for Footloose, The Best Little Whorehouse Goes Public and The Will Rogers Follies.  Other Broadway credits include Mamma Mia!, City of Angels, Me and My Girl and Shakespeare's Cabaret.  Recently, Hoty has played several stints on the regional theatre circuit; she played Desiree in the Pittsburgh CLO's A Little Night Music and Reno Sweeney in Anything Goes at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston.

The MUNY is the nation's largest and oldest outdoor theatre.  Upcoming productions this season include West Side Story (August 1st-7th) and The Sound of Music (August 8th-14th).

Single tickets can be ordered through MetroTix by phone at (314) 534-1111, online at www.metrotix.com or at any MetroTix outlet location.  For more information on the St. Louis MUNY, visit www.muny.com.
