DOCTOR ZHIVAGO to Get Official Broadway Cast Recording!

It was announced today that the new Broadway musical Doctor Zhivago, which opened at the Broadway Theatre on April 21st, 2015, will record its cast album on Thursday, May 28th authors include composer Lucy Simon (The Secret Garden), lyricists Michael Korie (Grey Gardens) and Amy Powers (the two multi-platinum Sunset Boulevard hits) and book writer Michael Weller (screenwriter for Hair and Ragtime). The recording will be produced by the 7-time Grammy® nominated music producer Robert Sher (On The Town, How To Succeed... revival, Annie revival, Nice Work If You Can Get It). Orchestrations are by Danny Troob. Musical supervision is by Ron Melrose, who will also be serving as associate producer of the Broadway cast recording. Music arrangements are by Eric Stern. Doctor Zhivago's cast album is a VIVA!DIVA! production and will be executive produced by J. Todd Harris.

Already performed in La Jolla, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Seoul, Helsinki, and Stockholm, the show is now being licensed for productions around the world.

The cast is led by Tam Mutu as Yurii Zhivago, Kelli Barrett (as Lara Guishar), Paul Alexander Nolan (as Pasha/Strelnikoff), Tom Hewitt (as Viktor Komarovsky) and Lora Lee Gayer (as Tonia Gromeko). The cast also features Jamie Jackson, Jacqueline Antamarian, Jonah Halperin, Sophia Gennusa, Ava-Riley Miles, Wendi Bergamini, Heather Botts, Ashley Brooke, Melody Butiu, Josh Canfield, Briana Carlson-Goodman, Julian Cihi, Bradley Dean, Michael Brian Dunn, Drew Foster, Kira Guloien, Rober Hager, Ericka Hunter, Dennis Lambert, David McDonald, Joseph Medeiros, Pilar Millholen, Gary Milner, Spencer Moses, Julius Sermonia, Jacob Smith, and Jesse Wildman.

Based on Nobel Prize winner Boris Pasternak's novel and David Lean's Academy Award-winning movie that starred Omar Sharif, Julie Christie, Geraldine Chaplin, Rod Steiger, Alec Guinness, Tom Courtenay and Ralph Richardson, the world premiere of the musical was produced by La Jolla Playhouse, in San Diego, California (Christopher Ashley, Artistic Director and Michael S. Rosenberg, Managing Director), under the direction of two-time Tony Award-winning director Des McAnuff (Jersey Boys, Billy Crystal's 700 Sundays, The Who's Tommy, Big|Brave River), who went on to helm an Australian tour

Choreography for Broadway was created by Kelly Devine (Rocky, Rock of Ages). Scenic design for the production was Michael Scott-Mitchell, whose Australian theatre and opera credits are extensive. Costumes were by Paul Tazewell (Side Show, In The Heights, The Color Purple, Caroline or Change). Lighting was by Howell Binkley (Hamilton, Honeymoon in Vegas, After Midnight, In The Heights).
