Rehearsals are now underway for the Broadway premiere of Tina Landau and Adam Guettel's Floyd Collins, which opens April 21 at the Vivian Beaumont Theater. What is the show all about?

Floyd Collins is based on the true story of a cave explorer in Kentucky, 1925. While chasing a dream of fame and fortune by turning Sand Cave into a tourist attraction, Floyd Collins himself becomes the attraction when he gets trapped 200 feet underground. Alone but for sporadic contact with the outside world, including his brother Homer, Floyd fights for his sanity – and, ultimately, his life – as the rescue effort above explodes into the first genuine media circus.

"Floyd is like a kid. He's in his late 30s, but he still lives with his parents- he never got in any sort  of relationships. All he wants to do is discover something new. He has this child-like wonder that is so infectious and endearing," said Jeremy Jordan, who plays the title character. "But watching that slowly diminish as the show goes on, but watching him cling on to it... his ideas of who he's been change throughout the show."
