A proposed Education Department rule could affect graduate arts programs, while the Doris Duke Foundation announced new grants supporting performing arts technology, and several Broadway names picked up Emmy nominations. On Broadway, cleaners avoided a strike after reaching a new agreement, and Right Angle Entertainment made a new executive hire. Regional theaters saw several leadership changes, including at Syracuse Stage, Actors Theatre of Indiana, and Omaha Community Playhouse, alongside a new company formation at Children's Theatre Company. 32BJ SEIU bargaining committee, representing Broadway cleaners, reached a tentative agreement with the Broadway League, representing employers ATG, Nederlander, Shubert and Circle in the Square.
