British Actor Terence Rigby Dead At 71

 British actor Terence Rigby has passed away at age 71. He had been suffering from lung cancer.

Rigby studied at RADA alongside Albert Finney. His first major claim to fame was starring in Peter Hall's production of Harold Pinter's The Homecoming. After the production he and Pinter became good friends and he was cast in several more of Pinter's works throughout his life including the lead in No Man's Land. In 2003 Rigby again teamed up with Hall where he played Pozzo in Waiting for Godot in 2003.

In addition to theater Rigby has been in the films Get Carter, Watership Down, Tomorrow Never Dies, Elizabeth and Colour Me Kubrick. On television he appeared in Dixon of Dock Green, Softly, Softly: Taskforce; Z-Cars, The First Lady, Callan, The Saint, Public Eye, Edward and Mrs Simpson, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy; Airline, Rumpole of the Bailey, Boon, Lovejoy, Our Friends in the North, Holby City, Midsomer Murders, Crossroads. He was played Dr Watson to Tom Baker's Sherlock Holmes.

Prior to his lung cancer diagnosis Rigby was touring in the US with A Woman of No Importance.
