Jessica Boevers will appear with John Lavelle and Craig Wroe in the Aquila Theatre Company's production of Shakespeare's classic comedy Much Ado About Nothing, which will be presented at the La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego, CA from January 17th through February 19th.

Boevers will play the headstrong Beatrice, who enters into a battle of wits and hearts with Benedick.  Lavelle will appear as both the love-stricken Claudio and the clownish Verges, while Wroe will play Leonato.  Aquila regulars Marwa Bernstein, Louis Butelli, Anthony Cochrane, Kathryn Merry and Kenn Sabberton will also be featured in the production, which was co-created by Cochrane, Peter Meineck and Robert Richmond.  The latter will direct Much Ado About Nothing, which replaces the previously-announced The Essential Alice in the season line-up.

The staging will not be a traditional one, but
"inspired by 1960s espionage send-ups such as The Avengers and The Pink Panther," according to the La Jolla's website. "The sleek and stylish production flows seamlessly from arch wit to stylized dance to dark clowning."

Boevers was last seen on Broadway as the leading lady of the much-buzzed-about musical In My Life; her other Broadway credits include Oklahoma!, Rent, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Les Miserables.  Lavelle recently performed in the off-Broadway play Rope; he was also seen on Broadway in The Graduate.  Wroe's off-Broadway credits include The Alexander Plays...Suzanne in Stages, Measure for Measure, Othello and The Tempest.
