Bang on a Can and The Noguchi Museum continue their outdoor Music in the Garden summer concert series, held in the Museum's serene sculpture garden on Sunday afternoons at 3pm. All concerts are free with Museum admission.

Part of Bang on a Can's 25th birthday year, Music in the Garden opened on June 10 with a performance by Bang on a Can All-Stars founding bassist Robert Black and the Hartt Bass Band. The series continues with the following performances:

On July 8, celebrated post-classical string quartet ETHEL will perform "Present Beauty," a program celebrating the concepts of presence and continuity. The program features ETHEL's own arrangement of Philip Glass' score from The Hours as well as works by Mark Stewart, Terry Riley, Julia Wolfe, David Lang, and Huang Ruo. www.ethelcentral.org

August 12 brings composer/performer extraordinaire Andy Akiho to the Museum's garden. Performing on steel pans, Akiho will also be joined by a quartet comprising Domenic Salerni (violin), Ian Rosenbaum (marimba and percussion), Sam Adams (bass), and Kenneth Salters (drums) in a program of Akiho's works, ranging from solo violin to digital playback. www.andyakiho.com

Music in the Garden concludes its summer season on September 9 with the eclectic electric guitarist and composer Gyan Riley, who will be performing his own compositions, giving the world premieres of several new pieces alongside music from his 2011 Tzadik release Stream of Gratitude. www.gyanriley.com
