August Events Announced For Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum
Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is located at 895 Shore Road, Pelham Bay Park, Bronx, New York. To reach us by public transportation, take the #6 Lexington Avenue Local subway to Pelham Bay Park station, followed by the Westchester Bee-Line #45 bus direct to the Mansion gate. For driving directions, please visit www.bpmm.org. The Mansion and Carriage House are open to the public for guided tours on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The gardens and grounds are open daily from 8:30 a.m. to dusk. Mansion admission is $5 adults, $3 seniors and students, free for children under six. Visiting garden and grounds is free.
First Friday! Bronx Beat at BPMM

This summer discover traditional music of the Bronx's many cultures with Bronx Beat at Bartow-Pell. August brings West African music with native Gambian griot Papa Susso playing the 21-string kora and singing stories of his country, its people, and its history. Enjoy the music and refreshments, tour the mansion, and stroll the garden. The free Bronx Seaside Trolley makes a continuous loop from the #6 Pelham Bay Park subway station to BPMM to City Island. Bronx Beat at Bartow-Pell is sponsored by the Bronx Council on the Arts.

Galleting Galore in the GardenMonday, August 2 - Thursday, August 5
8:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
This year will hopefully culminate the stonework restoration in Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum's formal, walled and terraced garden, designed in 1916 by Delano & Aldrich. Join other volunteers and master mason Kevin Towle to learn the traditional masonry art of galleting-the placing of small pieces of bluestone gallets in between the flagstones. Why spend those hot summer days in your house when you could spend it in ours? Solve mansion mysteries and gather around our wigwam for a week-long program full of creative crafts, fun games, and more. Recommended for children entering grades 1 through 4.
