David Carpenter & Kit Plaschkes proudly announce that Conor Mitchell, creator of the recent acclaimed musical Have A Nice Life will present an evening of his songs on Monday September 25th, at D-Lounge Cabaret (downstairs at the Daryl Roth Theater, 101 East 15th Street).

Featured along with Conor will be Nancy Anderson, Lisa Asher, Kevin Carolan, Charles Hagerty, Garrett Long, and Nikki Snelson, performing the songs of Mr. Mitchell from his shows Goblin Market, Have A Nice Life, Letters To An Absent Other, Mathilde, Merry Christmas Betty Ford and Who's Harry?

Originally from Northern Ireland, Conor Mitchell trained with the composers David Blake, Nicola Lefanu and Tomas Szemechu. His music for theatre and the concert hall is regularly performed across the UK and Ireland. His first full-length piece for the musical theatre was Have A Nice Life in 2003. Other credits as book/lyrics and score since then have included Mathilde (LAMDA), Todd (Kabosh Productions), Letters To An Absent Other (Greenwich Theatre, London) and the critically acclaimed Merry Christmas Betty Ford (Lyric Theatre, Belfast).

He has been guest pianist for the Royal Ballet, conductor for the Welsh National Opera on tour, guest lecturer and composer for Queen's University Belfast, has taught at the FEST in Naples as well as the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and is the only British/Irish composer/writer to have been performed at the University of Art, Berlin. More recently Greenwich Theatre, London presented a retrospective of his work entitled Other Woman as part of their musical theatre celebrations. In 2004 he was made the first and only life fellow of the Arts Foundation for his work in musical theatre composition. In 2005 his orchestral tone poem Nails In His Eyes was performed in Ireland under the baton of Vasily Petrenko.

He continues his association with the concert hall next year with a music-theatre ballet for dancers, singers and orchestra. Earlier this year BBC Radio 3 aired a program of his work to date. Later this year he will take o n the inaugural post of music advisor to Youth Music Theatre UK, a national organization that encourages the creation of new musicals for young people. He has been commissioned to create a new show for the Royal National Theatre: Rosen Street Protest, as well as a young people's show Present, a melodrama The Musician and new shows for both LAMDA as well as RADA.

There will be an $8 cover charge and no minimum. Reservations are not required.
