AMERICAN IDOL'S Chris Daughtry Sued by Bandmates

By:

NC's News & Records reports that AMERICAN IDOL Season 5 contestant Chris Daughtry is being sued by three of his former bandmates.

According to the report, bandmates Ryan Andrews, Scott Crawford and Mark Perry, who played with Daughtry in the band Absent Element' prior to his appearance on Idol, filed a lawsuit last Thursday claiming they had been defrauded out of royalties from four songs, including music and lyrics that the group had written together. The suit claims "constructive fraud, breaches of fiduciary duty, unfair trade practices and other deceptive and wrongful conduct" on the part of Daughtry.

In responding to the lawsuit, Daughtry posted a statement Friday on his official band website which read,  “I am very hurt by these false accusations. The songs listed in this lawsuit were written solely by me and no one else and at this time, I have no further comment.”

Daughtry placed fourth during Idol's 2006 season which included NBC Smash star Katharine McPhee and eventual winner Taylor Hicks. The singer formed his band 'Daughtry' that same year.
