Bang Bang Jet Away Releases New Album YOUR WARM BATH
Matthew Binder and producer Mike Kamoo recorded the ten-track LP remotely for San Diego label Earthling Records.
Bang Bang Jet Away has released Your Warm Bath, a new ten-song indie rock album via Earthling Records that grew out of an unexpected period of heartbreak, displacement, and starting over.
Written between Marseille, France, and San Diego, California, the album follows singer-songwriter Matthew Binder through a particularly difficult chapter of his life. In spring 2024, Binder left the United States to join his longtime girlfriend on her family's farm in a small village outside Geneva, Switzerland. He arrived with hopes of building a life together, but struggled with a new country, limited French, few employment opportunities, and the challenge of finding his own footing.
Then, in October 2025, Binder left Switzerland for what was supposed to be a two-week trip to Lyon. While he was away, his girlfriend of four years ended their relationship over the phone. Rather than return to Switzerland to collect his belongings, Binder continued south to Marseille, where he ultimately stayed for six months.
That period became the unexpected setting for Bang Bang Jet Away's latest record. Binder began working remotely with longtime bandmate and producer Mike Kamoo, who recorded and produced from his San Diego studio. The two built the album across thousands of miles, turning the upheaval of Binder's circumstances into a collection of melodic, guitar-driven songs.
Your Warm Bath includes ten tracks, including the title track, 'Oh You Silly Boy,' and 'I'll Take the Blame This Time.' While the circumstances behind the album were deeply personal, the record also captures the creative partnership Binder and Kamoo have developed over more than a decade.
'The breakup was probably the worst experience of my life,' Binder says. 'I didn't sleep a wink for four months and lost twenty pounds from an already skinny frame. But at least my French improved, and we got an album out of it.'
Bang Bang Jet Away was formed by Binder and Kamoo and draws from indie rock, garage rock, indie folk, and Americana. The duo has spent more than a decade releasing music through Earthling Records, the San Diego independent label and recording studio founded by Kamoo.
