The internationally celebrated ballet troupe Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo will return to Popejoy Hall with a one-night-only performance that blends classical precision with sharp-witted comedy.

Founded in 1974, the company—known affectionately as “the Trocks”—has earned worldwide recognition for its affectionate sendups of classical ballet. Performing en pointe and en travesti, the all-male ensemble pairs rigorous classical technique with expertly timed parody, transforming familiar works into performances that are both technically accomplished and playfully subversive.

The repertoire draws on iconic ballets including Swan Lake and Paquita, reimagined with exaggerated flourishes, knowing humor, and a deep respect for the original choreography. Critics have long noted the troupe’s ability to balance slapstick and satire with genuine artistry, creating performances that resonate with seasoned ballet lovers and newcomers alike. As the Sydney Star Observer has observed, the Trocks are “a guaranteed hoot for people who know nothing of ballet and an absolute must for those who think they know the originals.”

The performance takes place on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at Popejoy Hall in Albuquerque. Tickets range from $29.50 to $89.50 and are available online, in person at the UNM Ticket Offices near the UNM Bookstore, or by phone at (505) 277-4569.
