West End star and French actress Violetta Farjeon (aka "Chou") passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, the Telegraph writes. She was 91.

After joining the Free French Army and performing for the armed forces, she made her professional stage debut in the Late Joys Victorian music-hall shows at the Players' Theatre in 1947. She married Gervase Farjeon, a director at the Players' Theatre and son of West End writer Herbert Farjeon, in 1949.

Violetta starred in the original London production of Sandy Wilson's THE BOY FRIEND in 1954 as the French maid, 'Hortense', a role she had originated in a trial run at the Players' Theatre the year before. The musical transferred to Wyndham's and ran for five years. Farjeon appeared in the sequel, THE BOY FRIEND, DIVORCE ME, DARLING!, in 1965.

The actress also had a cameo role in the 1956 film THE PRINCE AND THE SHOWGIRL, starring Marilyn Monroe and Laurence Olivier.

She reprised her role in THE BOY FRIEND IN CONCERT at the Duchess in 1990 at the age of 66, and continued to star in Players' productions until she was 75.
