Two of Toronto's most exciting indie theatre companies, UNIT 102 ACTORS COMPANY (named 2015's Best Small Theatre Company by NOW Magazine) and LEROY STREET THEATRE (The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?; Much Ado About Nothing) are joining forces to open a brand new theatre space in the heart of Parkdale.

Located at 1479 Queen Street West, THE ASSEMBLY THEATRE is a newly renovated black box theatre. Replacing UNIT 102's flagship theatre space at 376 Dufferin-which was forced to close its doors in 2016 due to city development-THE ASSEMBLY THEATRE is a versatile and flexible performance space that will serve as the new home for UNIT 102 ACTORS COMPANY and LEROY STREET THEATRE. It will also be available for rentals to the Toronto Indie Theatre Community.

Kicking off THE ASSEMBLY THEATRE's inaugural season will be the Canadian premiere of MISS by Toronto playwright, Michael Ross Albert (Tough Jews, Dora Award nomination: "Outstanding New Play,"). Produced by UNIT 102 ACTORS COMPANY and THE SPADINA AVENUE GANG, the production will be directed by UNIT 102's co-artistic director, David Lafontaine (Of Mice and Men; The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, MyTheatre Award nomination: "Outstanding Direction.")

A taut and explosive drama about loss, grief, guilt, and revenge, Miss takes place in the aftermath of a shocking accident at a boarding school which irrevocably changes the lives of a teacher, her fiancé, and a troubled student.

The Canadian premiere production will feature Wayne Burns (Romeo + Juliet, Shakespeare in the Ruff; "Olympus," Syfy Network), Trevor Hayes (Amadeus, The Segal Centre; "21 Thunder," CBC), and Chloe Sullivan (Red Light Winter, MyTheatre Award nomination: "Outstanding Actress.") The production will feature set design by Adam Belanger (Tough Jews; Of Mice and Men, Dora Award nominations: "Outstanding Set Design,") who will also serve as assistant director. Dora Award winner Lindsay Dagger Junkin (Tough Jews, The Chasse Gallerie) will provide the costume design.

Miss will run from September 14 - October 1, 2017. Tickets go on sale on August 1st, 2017. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit unit102actors.com.

Next up at the new venue, LEROY STREET THEATRE will present the world premiere of THE CHANCE by acclaimed Canadian theatre icon, George F. Walker.

Three women faced with desperate times take desperate measures when given The Chance. Featuring the talents of Claire Burns (co-founder and managing director, The Storefront Theatre), Lynne Griffin (Harper Regan, Canadian Stage), and THE ASSEMBLY's own artistic director Anne Van Leeuwen (Tough Jews, Dora Award nomination: "Best Ensemble,") -under the direction of Wesley Berger (George F. Walker Double Bill, Theatre Passe Muraille) -LEROY STREET hits the ground running in this new, fast paced, all-female dark comedy, running October 12th - 28th, 2017.

Both UNIT 102 and LEROY STREET THEATRE will be celebrating the momentous opening of this brand new theatre space by hosting a special launch party on August 13th at 8:00pm. Join members of the Toronto indie theatre community in welcoming this new space to heart of Parkdale.
