Marquee Theatrical Productions has staged Les Miserables as it's spring show at The Newmarket Theatre. The production, which opened Thursday, is wonderfully staged by director Alexander Galant - who's managed to bring a fresh perspective on the material and put together a production which retains all of which you love, while bringing in enough originality to keep it from being a carbon copy of the original. The production also features an 15 piece orchestra, which fills the intimate auditorium with a lush sound.

J. P. Gedeon (appearing with the permission of CAEA) embodies Jean Valjean, and Eric Charters brings his foe Javert to life on stage. The pricipal cast is rounded out by Alex Leahy as Eponine, Courtney Gedeon as Fantine, Nicole Strawbridge as Cosette, Trevor Coll (appearing with the permission of CAEA) as Marius, Sonya Grundy as Mme. Thernardier, Mark Chambers as Thernardier, and Neil Salinas (appearing with the permission of CAEA) as Enjorlas.

Tickets are now on sale. Les Miserables runs through April 19 at The Newmarket Theatre. Ticket information is available at www.marqueetp.com.
