On November 5, the Temerty Theatre at The Royal Conservatory of Music will once again be the setting for the popular Bluebird North series. During these entertaining evenings, top Canadian songwriters come together with host Blair Packham to perform their music and share the inspiration for their songs as well as insights into the songwriting process. The first installment of the concert season features Scott Helman, AHI, and Lori Cullen.

Toronto-born singer-songwriter Scott Helman launched Augusta in 2014 and introduced the world to the infectious hit single, "Bungalow." In 2015, he toured the U.S. and Europe with Walk Off The Earth and electrified a national TV audience performing "Bungalow" on the MuchMusic Video Awards before receiving his first gold record. 2016 began with a tremendous amount of promise with Scott receiving two nominations and performing on the 2016 Juno Awards, and topping Teen Vogue's list of "14 Singers Who Are Going To Dominate in 2016." Scott is currently working on material for his sophomore release. In September 2016, "Bungalow" was officially Certified as a Platinum single.

Canadian songwriter and independent recording artist AHI (pronounced "eye") has taken his passion and his guitar over 50,000 miles through the vast woodlands of Canada, and across the Atlantic to the brick lanes of London and the highlands of Ethiopia. He has been recognized and awarded by the Toronto Arts Council, Folk Music Ontario, Nashville Songwriters Association International, the Songwriters Association of Canada, and the Canada Council for the Arts, and he is a Top 10 Finalist of the 2017 Allan Slaight Juno Master Class, establishing him as one of Canada's top emerging songwriters.

Lori Cullen's CDs include Garden Path, which reflected a young sensibility informed by her heroes, Joni Mitchell and Jane Siberry; So Much, with well-received jazz standards; Uneven Hill, which focused on original writing; and Calling for Rain, which brought together all the previous elements to create a hybrid of jazz and pop, which became her lasting artistic identity. Buttercup Bugle's release was celebrated with a live show featuring a 12-piece band and broadcast nationally on CBC Radio, and her most recent album, a collection of Ron Sexsmith/Kurt Swinghammer collaborations, written expressly for Lori, will be released on October 28.

Presented in partnership with the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.).
