Young People's Theatre will present the world premiere of acclaimed playwright Anusree Roy's latest offering, Sultans of the Street. Directed by Nina Lee Aquino, this poignant and uplifting tale will be presented on the Mainstage from April 28 to May 15, opening on May 1.

Four children from different social classes - two with the desire to purchase better kites, two with the simple wish to attend school - are trapped in a world of begging on the streets of Kolkata, India. Dressed as gods they bless the generous and threaten to curse those who are not. Together, the quartet must work to escape servitude to the mysterious "Aunty" and set a course for a new life.

The piece is directed by Nina Lee Aquino starring Colin Doyle, Mina James, Richard Lee, Ali Momen and Zorana Sadiq. Other credits include set & costume design by Camellia Koo, lighting design by Michelle Ramsay, sound design by Michelle Bensimon, and dramaturgy by Stephen Colella.
