Join freeFall on June 17 at 8pm for a reading of a brand new musical by Barry Harman (The Carol Burnett Show, Romance/Romance, Olympus On My Mind) and Grant Sturiale (Olympus On My Mind) based on the film of the same name. This premiere work will be directed by freeFall Artistic Director Eric Davis.

Under Fire, though fictionalized, was inspired by the murder of ABC reporter Bill Stewart and his translator Juan Espinoza while reporting on the Nicaraguan Revolution in 1979. This musicalization, like the movie that is its source material, poses important questions about the role the press plays during conflicts abroad. Is it possible to remain an unbiased observer? Are there moral justifications for a reporter to take sides in a conflict? When objectivity is sacrificed, what are the consequences?

In an age where traditional journalism with its code of ethics finds itself at odds with numerous other forms of information and propaganda on the internet, the themes and dilemmas of Under Fire are perhaps even more relevant now than in 1983 when the film was released to great critical acclaim.

This is a reading of the script and score of this exciting new work, featuring a cast of 8 actors and a live band under the direction of Michael Raabe. Cast includes T. Robert Pigott, Alison Burns, Alan Mohney, Jr., Hannah Benitez, Emanuel Carrero, Stephan J. Jones and Heather Baird.

Tickets are only $20 and can be obtained by calling 727-498-5205 or www.freefalltheatre.com.
