ImproGuise will be starting 2014 with an extended 2 week bang, in the form of South Africa's second ever Improv Festival. Based on the success of their first one, in 2013, they will be offering up a selection of their most fun and most popular long form improvised formats, and even adding exciting new ones into the mix.

Opening on Wednesday 29 January and running until Saturday 8 February at the wonderful and intimate Kalk Bay Theatre, they will be delighting, amazing and tantalising our audiences with a full programme of totally made up shows.

Improv veteran Megan Furniss says, "I am so excited that we are doing completely novel things with improv. Aside from our regular short-form shows, the Improv Fest gives us a chance to show off a whole new range of our talents to our audiences. And we get to dress up too!"

Here's a brief look at The Improv Fest line-up.

Wednesday Westerns - Wednesday 29 January and Wednesday 5 February will see the return of a full one and a half hour improvised Western. Audience members still talk about last year's bordellos, posses, ranchers and sheriffs with amazement. This year we'll be putting the Wild into the West like never before.

Crime Thursdays - Thursday 30 January and Thursday 6 February are devoted to detectives, murder, thrillers, evil, the law, justice without any pre-planning or rehearsals. Crimes will be committed and murders solved. It's all in an evening's improv.

Friday Family Musicals - Friday 31 January and Friday 7 February are devoted to The Musicprov. You know, those epic, fantastic, full musicals that have never been seen before, nor will be repeated ever again? Those.

Saturday SuperScene - Saturday 1 and Saturday 8 February will see the return of last year's favourite format, SuperScene. Highly competitive, very skilled and expertly executed improv, in which directors create their scenes, pitch new ideas to the audience and only the most brilliant one survives and is completed. SuperScene is ruthlessly brilliant and addictive.

Tickets cost R60 (R50 for students) with fantastic family weekend specials, R180 for a family of 4. To book call 0729393351.
