Poster Art for the Long Shots

The Long Shots are back at the Alexander Bar with their quirky and hilarious long-form improv style. Everything is all made up on the spot, with audiences able to see a series of improvised scenes and stories inspired by their suggestions. Everything is improvised: there is no planning, no script, just the comedy that comes from being in the moment.

The format for the upcoming shows is known as "Armando," named after Chicago improv comedian, Armando Diaz. Beginning with a true, personal monologue by one of the improvisers, based on an audience suggestion, the performers then create a montage of scenes inspired by that monologue. This process repeats itself a number of times, introducing us to a multitude of colourful characters and funny situations. As they say, there is comedy in truth.

The Long Shots perform at the Alexander Upstairs on 15 and 16 June at 19:00. Tickets are available from the Alexander Bar website, with tickets costing R80 if booked and prepaid online or R90 if paid on collection at the bar. For telephone enquiries, call 021 300 1652. The Alexander Bar, Café and Theatre is situated at 76 Strand Street in the Cape Town city centre and can be followed on Facebook and Twitter.
