The hit musical JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT won in two categories at the 52nd Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards held at the Artscape Opera House on Sunday. The show is currently running at Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town.

Jonathan Roxmouth won as Best Supporting Actor in a Musical or Music Theatre Show for his outstanding portrayal of the Pharaoh, marking his fourth win Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards. The multi-talented Niall Griffin, whose designs for I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE and HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH also impressed last year, won in the category for Best Costume Design.

Acknowledged as South Africa's finest musical theatre actor, Roxmouth has played leading roles in some of the world's greatest musicals such as THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, GREASE, SUNSET BOULEVARD and WEST SIDE STORY. Throughout his stellar career, he has won Naledi Theatre Awards as well as the Artes Legends and Broadway Stage Awards. His appearance in the Arts and Culture category of the 2016 200 Young South Africans list in the Mail & Guardian is a further testament to the standard of his work.

Starring alongside Roxmouth in the current production of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT are Fleur du Cap Theatre Award nominees Earl Gregory in the title role and Dean Roberts as Potiphar. Pop singer and television personality Nádine, last seen on the musical theatre stage as Mary Magdalene in JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, plays the Narrator.

With familiar songs like "Go, Go, Go Joseph," "Any Dream Will Do," "Close Every Door" and "One More Angel In Heaven", Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's first mega-hit has proved to be a firm South African favourite and promises local audience an evening loaded with fun, exuberance, colour, music, humour and high energy dance routines, all performed by a dazzling 23-strong South African cast.
