New dramatic works by Tony-winning playwright John Guare (House of Blue Leaves, Six Degrees of Separation) and dramatist, screenwriter and film director Neil LaBute (In the Company of Men, The Shape of Things and reasons to be pretty) highlight a three-night festival of new short plays and monologues at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe (236 East 3rd Street). Proceeds from the festival will benefit the Cafe's literacy and afterschool programs, which serve thousands of students from disadvantaged communities. (more...)

Thirty One Productions is proud to present, by arrangement with Samuel French Ltd, BASH Latterday Plays by Neil LaBute. BASH Latterday Plays is a collection of three one act plays. In the first, Iphigenia In Orem, a businessman from Utah divulges a chilling crime to a stranger in a Las Vegas hotel room. In A Gaggle Of Saints, a young Mormon couple each describe their version of events of a night in New York City. In Medea Redux, a woman recounts her intricate relationship with her junior high-school English teacher. Together, these one acts paint a vivid picture of the evils found in everyday life. (more...)

Starting April 21, actor and educator Elizabeth Byland ('Recent Tragic Events,' 'reasons to be pretty,' 'Last Days of Judas Iscariot') will conduct CAST Off Laugh Off, a five-week Improv Intensive for middle and high school students at CAST (Carolina Actors Studio Theatre).
