Just yesterday, the New York Drama Critics' Circle gathered to honor their 2017 award winners at Feinstein's/54 Below- Best Play: Oslo and Best Musical: The Band's Visit. The award for best play carries a cash prize of $2,500. The prize is made possible by a grant from the Lucille Lortel Foundation.

Monday night, a kickoff dinner was held honoring the 2017 Directors Project fellows. The dinner took place at the home of Broadway producers and BroadwayHD co-founders Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley. The guest of honor of the evening was Moritz von Stuelpnagel (director of Present Laughter, Hand To God), who is a Directors Project alumnus himself.

Groundhog Day, the Olivier Award-winning new musical featuring music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and a book by Danny Rubin, and directed by Matthew Warchus, opened just last night on Broadway at the August Wilson Theatre.

The acclaimed Fiasco Theater production of 'Into the Woods' opened April 5, 2017, at Center Theatre Group/Ahmanson Theatre and plays through May 14, 2017. The celebrated new production of the Tony Award-winning musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and book by James Lapine, is directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld. Sweat, the acclaimed new play by Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, directed by Kate Whoriskey completed its long journey and opened last night on Broadway. Recently announced to play the roles of Peggy Schuyler and Maria Reynolds in the upcoming West End production of the Broadway smash 'Hamilton,' Christine Allado, who was recently seen in the role of Vanessa in West End's 'In The Heights,' graced the stage of the Maybank Performing Arts Theatre in her solo concert, titled 'Songs of a Lifetime,' earlier this month.

On March 13, Vineyard Theatre's 2017 Gala Fundraiser celebrated the 10th anniversary of Vineyard Theatre's hit musical [title of show] with Hunter Bell, Jeff Bowen, Susan Blackwell, Heidi Blickenstaff, and a toast to Broadway producer Kevin McCollum. Michael Berresse directed the gala show. Larry Pressgrove was the music director.

Ambassador Theatre Group's Broadway revival of the New York City Center production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning Sunday in the Park with George just re-opened the historic Hudson Theatre (139-141 West 44th Street) last night, for a 10-week engagement. Directed by Sarna Lapine, performances will play through Sunday, April 23rd. BroadwayWorld was there to celebrate the opening night at the starry after party. Go inside the big night below!

Cate Blanchett and Richard Roxburgh will be joined by the entire original cast of The Present when Sydney Theatre Company's production of Andrew Upton's adaptation of Anton Chekhov's first play opens on Broadway. The limited season commences previews at the Barrymore Theatre on 17 December 2016, opening on 8 January and closing on 19 March 2017. See brand new photos of the cast of the production below.

Warm up on a cold winter's night with Broadway's hottest couple, Orfeh and Andy Karl in their Feinstein's/54 Below debut, Legally Bound (December 8-14). After love at first sight during the couple's time in Saturday Night Fever on Broadway, then getting married in 2001, this duo has established themselves as individuals and together as a theatre power couple. They famously appeared alongside one another in Legally Blonde, earning Orfeh a Tony nomination for her role as Paulette in 2007. Andy received back to back Tony nods himself, one for his star turn as the title character in Rocky in 2014, and another for his role as Bruce Granit in the Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century in 2015. He most recently starred as Phil Connors in the West End's Groundhog Day musical, bound for Broadway in 2017. Reuniting together again onstage, Orfeh and Andy Karl will be joined by musical director Steven Jamail for an unforgettable evening of chart-toppers, show-stoppers, and a sprinkling of holiday magic. Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright.

Music & Lyrics and West Yorkshire Playhouse have announced that Charlotte Wakefield in the role of Truly Scrumptious and Jos Vantyler in the role of the Childcatcher in the much-loved Sherman Brothers musical CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG. The Tony, Grammy & Olivier Award-Winning Best Musical Jersey Boys just welcomed 'Dancing with the Stars' superstar Mark Ballas, who made his Broadway debut last night in the iconic role of 'Frankie Valli.' He is joined by fellow new cast members Nicolas Dromard and Drew Seeley in the roles of Tommy DeVito and Bob Gaudio (respectively), as well as Matt Bogart as Nick Massi. The Donmar Warehouse production of Christopher Hampton's Les Liaisons Dangereuses, starring Tony Award winners Janet McTeer and Liev Schreiber, directed by the Donmar's Artistic Director Josie Rourke, begins performances on Saturday, October 8, 2016 and will open on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Booth Theatre (222 W 45th St). Actor's Express opens its 2016-2017 season with a modern take on Stephen Sondheim's game-changing musical Company. After his acclaimed production of Sweeney Todd last season, Actor's Express Artistic Director Freddie Ashley will direct the funny and incisive comedy with a 'reignited love for Sondheim.
