The critically acclaimed production of The Grinning Man, directed by Tony award-winning Tom Morris (War Horse) and based on the classic Victor Hugo (Les Mis rables) novel, The Man Who Laughs, has taken over Studio 1 at Trafalgar Studios from 6 December, following a hugely successful autumn 2016 premiere at Bristol Old Vic. The National Theatre of Great Britain's epic WAR HORSE opened at The Memphis Orpheum on March 25th. The story is based on Michael Morpurgo's 1982 novel of the same name. The play premiered in London in 2007, opened on Broadway in 2011, and embarked on a National Tour in 2012. It is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg's feature film.
The Wicked Young Writers' Award announced its winners for 2012 at a prestigious ceremony on 6th December at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, home of the award-winning musical Wicked. The ceremony was hosted by Louise Dearman, who stars as Elphaba, and prizes were presented by Michael Morpurgo, best-selling author of War Horse and Chair Judge of the Award.

On August 20, 2012, Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa held a special preview event to highlight its upcoming Broadway Series for the 2012 - 2013 Season. Presented at the Segerstrom Concert Hall, the showcase included live presentations from the national touring companies of MEMPHIS, WICKED and the much-anticipated Brit import WAR HORSE, interspersed with videos from each of the shows coming to Orange County starting in the Fall.

Now in its fourth year in the West End, Nick Stafford's adaptation of Michael Morpurgo's book has been playing to sell-out houses at the New London Theatre since March 2009. The Broadway production of War Horse, which continues its run at the Lincoln Center's Vivien Beaumont Theatre, was the winner of six Tony Awards including a Special Tony Award for Handspring Puppet Company. In February of this year War Horse opened to great critical acclaim at The Princess of Wales Theatre, Toronto. War Horse premiered at The National Theatre in October 2007.

The 33rd Annual Dora Mavor Moore Awards were announced yesterday, with Acting Up Stage, Nightwood Thetare and Theatre Passe Muraille emerging as the leaders of the pack with the most number of nominations in their respective divisions. The Awards will be distributed in a ceremony hosted by Thom Allison at the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts on June 25th, 2012 and BWW is thrilled to bring its readers photo coverage of the nomination event.
