The winner of five 2011 Tony Awards including Best Play, WAR HORSE will embark on a national tour in June 2012, bringing the hit play to 30 U.S. cities during the 2012-2013 season. WAR HORSE has been seen by almost 2 million people worldwide and is currently playing at New York's Lincoln Center Theater, in London's West End, and at Toronto�s Princess of Wales Theatre. Future productions of WAR HORSE are planned for Australia, Berlin and South Africa, as well as a UK Tour.
The tour of WAR HORSE, based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo and adapted by Nick Stafford, will be directed by Bijan Sheibani based on the original Tony� Award-winning direction by Marianne Elliott and Tom Morris, and presented in association with Handspring Puppet Company. At the heart of the show are life-sized puppets which bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage.
Michael Morpurgo�s novel, War Horse, is also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg�s feature film of the same name, which was nominated for six Academy Awards including Best Picture.

This week Nashville is gifted the chance to see War Horse at Tennessee Performing Arts Center. It isn't often that a person can say that a horse is the main character of a play, but that's just what War Horse gives you. Set in World War 1 era England, War Horse explores the relationship between a horse and his boy. When the horse, Joey, is sold to the war effort, his owner Albert can't bare to be apart from him and runs away, lies about his age, and joins the military. (more...)

WAR HORSE Concludes North American Tour this Summer

The North American touring production of War Horse will conclude this summer as the highest grossing and most attended touring non-musical play in US history, recouping its investment in the process. The tour, which opened in June 2012 at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, has been seen by over 1.1 million audience members to date and, by its conclusion, will have played 68 engagements and 749 performances. The tour's final stop will be a four-week run at Tokyo's Theatre Orb, marking the play's Asian debut. (more...)

The annual London theatre initiative Kids Week (www.kidsweek.co.uk) has achieved a 77% year-on-year increase in first-day sales, with 85,336 tickets sold in the first 24 hours since going on sale on 17 June 2014 at 10:00am (compared to the equivalent period in 2013).
