See Chicago Dance, the dance industry's nonprofit service organization, and its Executive Director Julia Mayer, kicked off their 10th Chicago Dance Month, this year in conjunction with the city’s Year of Chicago Dance campaign, Saturday, May 28 at Navy Pier’s Lake Stage. The launch included a sample of Chicago’s dance community and 2022 Chicago Dance Month offerings.

Venetia Stifler, executive and artistic director of the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, on behalf of the 2019 Ruth Page Award Committee, awarded the 2019 Ruth Page Awards to Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and its Artistic Director Robert Battle and Chicago Dance History Project and its Artistic and Executive Director Jenai Cutcher. The special event took place Friday, March 8 before the sold-out performance of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater celebrating its 60th anniversary as a company and the 50th anniversary of performing at the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, 50 E. Ida B. Wells Dr. 

On Tuesday April 30th, 2013, members of the Broadway Company of Chicago joined forces with Sing For Your Seniors to bring a very special performance to the seniors at Encore Senior Center. The musical performance hosted by Sing For Your Seniors' Executive Director Jackie Vanderbeck, included songs of the performer's choosing as well of songs from Chicago. Chicago Children's Theatre presents its 2012-13 season finale, a world premiere collaboration with Redmoon's Frank Maugeri: The Elephant and The Whale.This all-new family fable features sea voyages, wild mechanical objects, circus songs, panoramic paintings, exquisite shadow puppets and an innovative sound design. Performances are now through May 26, 2013 at Chicago Children's Theatre's new home, the Ruth Page Center for the Arts, 1016 N. Dearborn, Chicago. BroadwayWorld Chicago invited all winners, nominees, past winners and nominees, theater folk, superfans, board members and everyone else to the third annual BroadwayWorld Awards Celebration on January 9, 2013 at The Call nightclub in Chicago's Andersonville neighborhood. Yesterday, December 20, Broadway's globally acclaimed revival of the Tony Award-winning musical CHICAGO celebrated another momentous milestone and record-breaking when it played performance #6,681. With that 8 p.m. performance at the historic Ambassador Theatre, CHICAGO surpassed the original Broadway production of Les Miserables to become the third longest-running show in Broadway history. Chicago Children's Theatre (CCT) and Artistic Director Jacqueline Russell open the season with the Chicago premiere of a new musical version of Harold and the Purple Crayon, based on the beloved children's books by Crockett Johnson, directed by top Chicago director Sean Graney. Yesterday, at the top of the museum's Grand Staircase leading to the Impressionist Galleries, a full-sized replica of Georges Seurat's A Sunday on La Grande Jatte-1884 was installed but devoid of most of the foreground characters, leaving visitors puzzled by the strange new version. In anticipation of Chicago Shakespeare Theater's upcoming production of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's musical Sunday in the Park with George, characters from this famous painting came to life for a surprising musical performance.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater's (CST) 25th Anniversary Season includes Elizabeth Rex, directed by CST Artistic Director Barbara Gaines and playing in CST's Courtyard Theater now through January 22, 2012. Set in Shakespeare's time, Timothy Findley's Elizabeth Rex is a fictional drama based on an obscure historical fact: on the eve of the beheading of her court favorite and rumored lover, the Earl of Essex, Queen Elizabeth was entertained with a royal command performance by William Shakespeare and his company. Findley's daring and original play imagines the troubled Queen's impassioned confrontation with an ailing actor-who dares to reveal the woman buried beneath the role of the 'Virgin Queen.'

THE CHRISTMAS SCHOONER brings holiday cheer to the Mercury Theater (3745 N. Southport, Chicago), from November 16 through December 31, 2011.

Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Award-winner America Ferrera, known across the world as Ugly Betty from the hit TV series of the same name, swaps her trademark braces for fishnets for eight weeks only, when she makes her British stage debut as the alluring publicity-seeker Roxie Hart in the smash hit musical CHICAGO. The Way Off Broadway Dinner Theatre's blockbuster 2012 Season continues this fall when the criminally entertaining Kander and Ebb musical Chicago opened at the theatre September 9th. This year, Way Off Broadway's audiences have been taken to New York City with the area premiere of The Drowsy Chaperone, followed by a visit to the islands with Rodgers & Hammerstein's South Pacific, then a summer visit to 60's Baltimore with the mega-musical Hairspray. For the fall, it is off to the Windy City!

This past Saturday, July 23, Randy Harrison (Queer as Folk) and the entire cast and crew of Broadway's Chicago attended SILENCE! The Musical, Off-Broadway's newest smash hit, at Theatre 80. The 10:30 PM performance was particularly electric as Charlotte d'Amboise and the other Chicago cast members broke out into cheers and applause every time SILENCE's leading lady (Jenn Harris) executed her Fosse moves, as devised by director/choreographer Christopher Gattelli. Harrison and the Chicago company happily posed for onstage photos afterwards with Brent Barrett, Jenn Harris and the entire SILENCE! cast.

Participants included Tony Award winner Chita Rivera (Broadway's original Velma Kelly), Vincent Pastore (Amos Hart), Tony Award winner Lillias White (Matron 'Mama' Morton), Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Roxie Hart), Brent Barrett (Billy Flynn), Rob Bartlett (Amos Hart), Amra-Faye Wright (Velma Kelly), Carol Woods (Matron 'Mama' Morton) and many more, plus current CHICAGO stars Bianca Marroquin (Roxie Hart), Leigh Zimmerman (Velma Kelly), Colman Domingo (Billy Flynn), Robert Creighton (Amos Hart) and LaVon Fisher-Wilson (Matron 'Mama' Morton). Also in attendance were producer Barry Weissler, special guest hosts Julie James and Seth Rudetsky of SiriusXM Radio's 'On Broadway' channel, and over 1,000 of CHICAGO's top fans, all of whom are attending this very special performance for free.
