Based on The Birds by Aristophanes

Emily was an aviatrix who fearlessly walked on the wings of the family biplane. Just as she once plummeted dizzyingly through space, she is now falling through inner space as the result of a stroke. This extraordinary musical takes us inside Emilyís mind as she finds the light at the end of the tunnel in the cave of her memory. With breathtaking simplicity, WINGS charts her recovery as she regains her spirit to achieve new heights. Starring Ann Crumb. Directed by Jesse Cline.

PlayMakers Repertory Company Presents TWELFTH NIGHT
by BWW News Desk - Feb 9, 2017

Inspired by the photographic works of Slim Aarons, Jerry Ruiz's conception of "Twelfth Night" will transport audiences to a mid-20th century Illyria where jet-setting socialites encounter mistaken identities and gender masquerades, ensuring that no one really knows who they are, or what they want. A shipwrecked Viola disguises herself as Cesario, a page in the service of Duke Orsino. Viola loves Orsino, but Orsino loves Lady Olivia, who in turn falls for "Cesario" when "he" is sent by the Duke to court her. Turning this comic love triangle even further on its side is the reappearance of Viola's twin brother Sebastian, presumed dead after the shipwreck. Add in a fool named Feste and a drunkard named Belch for a fast-paced feast for the senses. (more...)

It's been 80 years since Bessie Smith, the celebrated Empress of the Blues, died a lonely death, after an auto accident on a desolate Mississippi road. But her injuries were severe enough so that when she was taken to the nearest hospital (which happened to be one that accepted blacks), that she was beyond saving, and died at the young age of 43.
