Narroway Publishing Releases EVIL OF THE DETAILS
by BWW News Desk - Aug 29, 2014

Over the course of several years, the plight of human trafficking and child exploitation victims have made headlines across our country and around the world. 'However,' says Roy A. Teel, Jr., author of the Iron Eagle crime novel series, 'America talks about changing the laws and saving women and children from human trafficking but does little to change anything.' A recent case documented by The Huffington Post and Reuters, headlined 'Teen Allegedly Raped Repeatedly Because Alabama Couple Wanted Baby,' revealed that 'An Alabama couple [was] charged with raping a 17-year-old relative multiple times in an unsuccessful attempt to impregnate her so they could keep the baby.' 'Jeremy and Amanda Swann, both 29-year-old residents of Jones, ... were arrested on Thursday and have been charged with first-degree rape,' Selma-based Assistant District Attorney Elliott Lipinsky said. 'It's extremely disturbing,' said Lipinsky, who is prosecuting the case. 'We're not going to stop until we can ensure that the victim gets some sort of justice.' Teel says, 'These cases are in no way unusual but, in fact, are extremely common. The notion that this type of human rights violation and human trafficking only happens to foreigners is a misguided way of thinking.' Teel goes on to say, 'Those who are entrusted with children are in many cases the very perpetrators of the crimes.' In book two of Teel's crime novel series, 'Evil and the Details,' he addresses the abuses and atrocities that can befall innocent women and children at the hands of their own parents and other relatives in fictional scenarios. In the case of the young girl in Alabama, she was unable to report the abuse and torture; her assailants falsely 'filed a complaint with the Alabama Department of Human Resources stating that they wanted custody of the teenager on the grounds that [her] mother was sexually assaulting her ... During a subsequent investigation, the girl told investigators that the couple had propositioned her for sex and that Jeremy Swann had raped her six times over the period of a month,' Lipinsky said.' Sadly, 'Jeremy Swann's mother, Dianna Swann, has been charged with one misdemeanor count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the case.' The article reveals that Swann's mother had knowledge of the situation and did nothing to prevent or stop it. Teel says, 'Had it not been for a comedy of errors, this young girl could very well have remained the victim of this twisted couple and ended up pregnant and giving birth to a child. One must pause and wonder had this horrific act not been caught, what might the fate of the victim have been had she given birth? Also, one wonders how far this couple, as well as Jeremy Swann's mother, would have been willing to go to keep the secret.' 'Evil and the Details' takes Teel's readers into The Dark world of human trafficking and deeper still into even more heinous crimes. www.amazon.com/Evil-Details-Iron-Eagle-Book-ebook/dp/B00MQ9TK22/ref=sr_1_1 (more...)

BWW Reviews: The Unsingable Blues
by Kristen Morale - Aug 29, 2014

Beautiful Soup Theater's Shades of Blue: The Decline and Fall of Lady Day is an unconventional, almost chilling ode to Holiday that is careful not to emphasize and dwell upon the singer's musical accolades and success; in fact, it does little to promote her career and the person as seen through the eyes of her adoring public. This production, written and directed by the incredibly talented Steven Carl McCasland (who also founded Beautiful Soup and serves as the group's Artistic Director), wades in the realm of storytelling without the fantastical twist that people always enjoy adding to make their lives seem more interesting - to add drama where drama may sometimes be due. But good physical comedy is not easy.
