Opening tonight in Gallatin is Scott Seidl and Stephen Kummer's Civil War musical Across the Lines, running through Saturday night at CenterStage, 250 Hancock Street. The new musical, based on a true story drawn from the letters of Captain Robert A. At a celebratory opening ceremony for The Jim Henson Exhibition, housed in a new gallery at Museum of the Moving Image funded by The City of New York, the First Lady of New York City Chirlane McCray, the Museum's Executive Director Carl Goodman, Deputy Mayor Alicia Glen, and City Council Majority Leader Jimmy Van Bramer were joined by Jim Henson's daughter Cheryl Henson, and special appearances by Abby Cadabby, Red Fraggle, and Fozzie Bear, among other guests. This major new exhibition is dedicated to the life and legacy of Jim Henson, who was a singular creative figure in the realms of television, film, and puppetry-and a New Yorker who made the City his base for family and work. BWW Review: WILD HORSES at CATF

Wild Horses is a charming, energetic coming of age story of teenage rebellion and romance in the 1970's expertly performed in a solo show by Kate Udall. Written by Allison Gregory and in the National New Play Network premiere, a single unnamed woman recounts a single summer from her teenage years when she and her friends experiment with sex, drinking and finding freedom, among typical teenage highs and heartbreaks within their families and social circles. The central theme tying the summer of memories together is the horses kept in terrible conditions on a nearby ranch and the woman and her friends' attempts to set the horses free. (more...)

This inventive chamber opera scored for five voices, custom-built sound sculptures, string quartet and percussion will premiere September 8 and 9 at 8 p.m. in the Black Box Theater at the URBN Center Annex at Drexel University, 3401 Filbert Street.
