The Artistic Home will follow up its highly acclaimed and Jeff recommended production of By the Bog of Cats - a contemporary Irish take on Medea - with a much cheerier updating of a classic. Their summer production for 2017 will be David Ives' comedy in verse, The School for Lies. As Ives did with The Liar, his 'translaptation' of Corneille's Le Menteur, he honors the French 17th Century practice of writing in verse, but uses contemporary language even as he maintains the Moliere play's original setting of Paris in 1666. Sundance Institute Brings $151 Million in Economic Impact to Utah with 2017 Sundance Film Festival

The nonprofit Sundance Institute today announced that its 2017 Sundance Film Festival, which took place in Park City, Salt Lake City and Sundance, Utah in January, generated a total economic impact of $151.5 million. These numbers come from an independent economic and demographic study conducted by Y² Analytics, which used updated methodology and technology to give a more complete picture of the Festival's impact on the state of Utah's economy. They are in addition to the economic impact of Sundance Institute's year round Utah-based programs, such as the Filmmaker Labs and Summer Film Series.   (more...)

The Heather Brothers are back with their new heavenly blaspheme musical comedy Holy Crap!. After launching the first pay-per-view religious channel in Great Britain, the American Bobby Del La Ray (John Addison), The "Hallelujah Cowboy", soon realises that there is no market for such an enterprise in the "godless and bankrupt UK". Since his meddling with the mafia is taking its tall on his mother, who is being held hostage in Sicily, he decides to start offering his few viewers another kind of entertainment, something that he is sure will increase his figures: porn.
