The Menier Chocolate Factory today announces that Scarlett Strallen (Amalia Balash) will be joined by Alastair Brookshaw (Ladislav Sipos), Les Dennis (Mr Maraczek), Callum Howells (Arpad Laszlo), Katherine Kingsley(Ilona Ritter), Dominic Tighe (Steven Kodaly) and Mark Umbers (Georg Nowack), with Rachel Bingham, Peter Dukes, Luke Fetherston, Olivia Fines, Aimee Hodnett, Sarah-Marie Maxwell and Vincent Pirillo for the company's major revival of She Loves Me this Christmas. The production reunites Strallen with director Matthew White, following their previous collaboration at the Menier on Candide. A.C.T.'s Young Conservatory Announces 2016-17 Cabaret Season

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Young Conservatory Director Craig Slaight is proud to announce the 2016-17 cabaret season, featuring four unique cabarets performed by members of the Young Conservatory's High School Musical and Cabaret Ensembles. Performances include Celebrating Sondheim (November 4-7, 2016), a celebration of one of America's most prolific and successful composers for the stage; Singer's Choice (February 17-20, 2017), an eclectic program that has the young performers choosing material that speaks to them; Keep the Home Fires Burning (March 31-April 3, 2017), consisting of memorable songs from both World Wars; and Comedy Tonight (May 12-15), a celebration of humorous songs from throughout the years. The High School Musical ensemble will perform at Friday and Monday performances while the Cabaret Ensemble will perform at Saturday and Sunday performances. BWW Review: Cabaret Celebrates Stephen Sondheim in Night Two of the Mabel Mercer Foundation Cabaret Convention (10/19)

Hold your hats and hallelujah. After an electrifying opening night, the Mabel Mercer Foundation's 27th Annual Cabaret Convention continued Wednesday night in a packed Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Hosted by Jeff Harnar and Andrea Marcovicci, the cabaret community gathered to salute the music of Stephen Sondheim, the EGOT-winning composer/lyricist whose oeuvre has been simultaneously catapulting and tripping up artists for decades. Despite 30 performances on the evening, you'd be hard-pressed to find a weak spot in Wednesday night's lineup, hosting what is arguably the best rotation of the four nights, featuring cabaret giants, up-and-comers, expert arrangers (plus the talents of Jered Egan on bass and Dan Gross on drums), and Sondheim role originators. Michael Arden, who brilliantly re-imagined The Wallis and Deaf West Theatre's production of Spring Awakening that received rave reviews on Broadway, directs this rarely staged Stephen Sondheim (Into the Woods, Sweeney Todd, West Side Story) musical. Merrily We Roll Along travels backwards in time to navigate the bumpy history among three friends - Franklin, Charlie and Mary - who begin their in careers in show business together.
