WAM Theatre has announced the cast for a reading of Waxworks by Trina Davies, the final reading in the Fresh Takes Play Reading Series. An exploration of the tales we are told and the heroes and villains we create, Waxworks tells the story of Madame Tussaud, an extraordinary artist who developed the first worldwide entertainment brand. WAM Theatre will present the reading on Sunday, September 21 at 3:00 p.m. at No. Six Depot Roastery and Cafe, 6 Depot Street in West Stockbridge, MA. Waxworks is the fifth and final presentation in the new Fresh Takes play reading series, which offers new and reimagined works that tell women's stories. The series has proven popular with audiences, selling out its first four readings. (more...)

Next up on its Main Stage, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents the Bard's epic pageant play Henry VIII. Centered around the tug-of-wars between church and state and husband and wife, the play culminates in the birth of England's future Queen Elizabeth I, Shakespeare's great patron and Henry's fierce and very female heir. Performances begin October 15 at the F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Tickets start at $25 for preview performances and $32 for regular performances. Student rush tickets for all performances are $15, available a half-hour before curtain for with a valid student ID. Performances are Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m.; and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. For tickets, call the Box Office at 973-408-5600 or visit www.ShakespeareNJ.org. As the weather gets crisper and the nights get longer, the Utah Shakespeare Festival is gearing up for its fall season. The outrageous farce, Boeing Boeing, by Marc Camoletti opens September 17, and Steven Dietz's adaptation of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes: The Final Adventure opens September 18. Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, which opened in June, bridges the gap between summer and fall. All three shows will run in repertory in the Randall L. Jones Theatre until October 18. (more...)

Old Globe Artistic Director Barry Edelstein directs the first production, Shakespeare's fascinating romance All's Well That Ends Well. He has cast local professional actors, including recent graduates of the Old Globe/University of San Diego Graduate Theatre Program. A Jewish Theater Company and New York's first one dedicated to Sabbath-observant artists, will present A DYBBUK FOR TWO PEOPLE, Bruce Myers's acclaimed two person adaptation of S. Ansky's classic Jewish play THE DYBBUK directed by 24/6's Co-Founding Artistic Director, Yoni Oppenheim. Paper Mill Playhouse has announced casting for its winter comedy, Christopher Durang's Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike. This touching and wickedly hysterical Tony Award-winning best play features Broadway, television and film veterans: Philippe Bowgen (Spike), Gina Daniels (Cassandra), Carolyn McCormick (Masha), Mark Nelson (Vanya), Michele Pawk (Sonia) and Jamie Ann Romero (Nina). Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike will be directed by Don Stephenson.
