Full Cast Announced for HELLO! MY BABY at Goodspeed

Goodspeed Musicals, the first two-time Tony Award winning theatre in the country has announced that the cast of Hello! My Baby will be led by Justin Bowen, who will play Mickey McKee, and Stephanie Koenig, who will play Nelly Gold/Ned O'Reilly. Kelly McCormick will play Frances Gold. Junior Tierney will be played by Carrington Vilmont of Broadway's The Phantom of the Opera and Goodspeed's Half a Sixpence. Stanford J. Tierney will be played by Dick Decareau, who appeared in Broadway's Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Raggedy Ann and Goodspeed's Li'l Abner and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Beth McVey will play Ethel Coots. Ms. McVey's Broadway credits include Beauty and the Beast, The Phantom of the Opera, Nine, 42nd Street, and Annie. Bert Coots will be played by Frank Root of Broadway's 42nd Street and Mack & Mabel as well as Goodspeed's George M!. Alex Viola will play Violet Gold. (more...)

Paul Garman, Executive Director/Producer, has announced a benefit concert version of Jerry Herman's rarely performed musical Mack & Mabel presented by Musical Theatre West at the Carpenter Performing Arts Center for one night only, Monday, May 20 at 8pm. Jerry Herman, composer/lyricist of the musical theatre classics Hello, Dolly!, Mame, and La Cage aux Folles, famously declared that Mack & Mabel is his own favorite score, and the New York Times says, "the songs remain among the most felicitous in Mr. Herman's canon." With Alexander Andreou (National Theatre, Manchester Royal Exchange) as Socrates, Paul Hutton as Strepsiades (Mack & Mabel Southwark Playhouse), and Jack Montgomery (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Mary Poppins), as Phidippides, this modern day re-interpretation of a classic Greek comedy will also feature Riana Athanasiou, Lucyelle Cliffe and Rahil Liapopoulou as The Chorus. Happy Birthday, Robert Preston! best remembered for his performance as 'Professor' Harold Hill in Meredith Willson's musical The Music Man (1962). He had already won a Tony Award for his performance in the original Broadway production, in 1957. In 1965 he was the male part of a duo-lead musical, I Do! I Do! with Mary Martin, for which he won his second Tony Award. He played the title role in the musical Ben Franklin in Paris and originated the role of Henry II in the original production of The Lion in Winter. In 1974 he starred alongside Bernadette Peters in Jerry Herman's Broadway musical Mack & Mabel as Mack Sennett, the famous silent film director. That same year (1974) the film version of Mame, another famed Jerry Herman musical, was released with Preston starring, alongside Lucille Ball, in the role of Beauregard Burnside. (more...)
