(UMC) will launch its fifth anniversary celebration with a new Off-Broadway production of the 1950 musical revue Bless You All! with sketches by Emmy Award winner Arnold Auerbach ('The Phil Silvers Show,' Call Me Mister) and a score by acclaimed songwriter Harold Rome (Fanny, Destry Rides Again). Directed by UMC artistic director Ben West (The Fig Leaves Are Falling, At Home Abroad), the limited three-week engagement will run today, Sep 19 - Oct 5 at The Connelly Theatre (220 East 4th Street), officially opening September 22. GENERAL HOSPITAL's John Ingle Passes Away

John Ingle, best known for the role of patriarch Edward Quartermaine on ABC's "General Hospital," died surrounded by his family in California on Sunday, September 16 after a courageous battle with cancer. His beloved wife of 57 years, Grace-Lynne Martin, passed away earlier this year on February 11, 2012 of natural causes. Ingle is survived by their five daughters, Jessica, Jenny, Carey, Melanie and Chrissy, and nine grandchildren. (more...)

Tom Jones to Interview Legendary Dancer Marge Champion at NYPL, 3/15

On Monday, March 15th at 6pm Tom Jones, creator of the The Fantasticks, will interview dancer and choreographer Marge Champion. Marge and her husband Gower Champion were legendary in the 1950s for their dancing in nightclubs, MGM musicals and on television. More recently, she appeared with her current dance partner, Donald Saddler, in a six-month run in the Broadway revival of Stephen Sondheim's Follies in 2001. In 2007 Ms. Champion, who began her dance career with Walt Disney as the live action model for Snow White, was honored with the Disney Legends Award. SCHMIDT are among the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Awards recipients. The awards will be presented at a ceremony on Friday, May 1, at 6:30pm, at the Hudson Theatre (145 West 44th Street). Mr. Goldstein was selected to receive the 2015 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Schmidt will receive the Robert L.B. As BroadwayWorld reported this morning, Bette Midler will indeed return to Broadway in one of the most cherished shows in musical theater history when she takes on the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in Michael Stewart's (book) and Jerry Herman's (music and lyrics) masterpiece, Hello, Dolly!. Directed by four-time Tony Award® winner Jerry Zaks, Hello, Dolly! will begin performances on Broadway on March 13, 2017, with an official opening night of April 20, 2017. Rehearsals begin one year from today. On January 16, 1964 theatergoers at the St. James Theatre first experienced what was to become perhaps the most memorable scene in musical comedy, when the curtains part atop the stairs of the Harmonia Gardens Restaurant and Dolly Levi appears in her red Freddy Wittop gown to begin her descent to 'rejoin the human race.' Forty-seven years (not to mention over 5,000 performances) later and 3,000 miles away, patrons of the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles were able to revisit a little bit of theatrical history as Jerry Herman's first Dolly, Ms. Carol Channing, again entered through parting red curtains and took the stage wearing her original 1964 gown in celebration of her 90th birthday. Harry Kullijian, Carol Channing's Husband Dies at 91

We are sad to report the news today, that Harry Kullijian, husband of Broadway legend, Carol Channing, passed away on Monday in Southern California, just a few short days of his 92nd birthday. Channing, performed the night before in 'A Carol Channing Chirstmas' at the Agua Caliente Resort & Casino in Rancho Mirage, California and the next day Kullijian collapsed at home, and died from what the Modesto Bee describes as an aneurysm related condition, that he had been treated for two years prior.
