Being blessed with beauty, light and harmony is not enough for Rose and her squad goals. She wants to help the less fortunate creatures of the kingdom by opening an ogre orphanage or a unicorn sanctuary. A renowned interpreter with an eclectic taste for songs from all genres, Buckley will share a collection of tunes by Radiohead as well as theater greats Stephen Schwartz and Jason Robert Brown. Bergen County Players Opens 84th Season with CABARET

Set in 1931 Berlin, Cabaret primarily takes place amid the nightlife of the seedy Kit Kat Klub. Life there revolves around the 19-year-old English cabaret performer, Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer, Cliff Bradshaw. Overseeing the action is the mysterious Master of Ceremonies at the Kit Kat Klub, which serves as a metaphor for ominous political developments in Germany as the Nazis rise to power. Director Alan Demovsky encourages the audience to ask questions: "Why have so many versions of this story been told for almost 100 years? Is it truly a cautionary tale? Can this happen again? Is it perpetually happening?" (more...)

Production photos have been released for the professional European premiere of  Rodgers & Hammerstein's ALLEGRO. The musical opened on Broadway in 1947, their third collaboration for the stage following Oklahoma! and Carousel, and has been revived by producer Danielle Tarento and director Thom Southerland, the award-winning team behind Grey Gardens, Grand Hotel, Titanic, Parade and Mack & Mabel. Southerland is working on a new adaptation of the book and the production will have brand new orchestrations. The production runs 5 August-10 September at the Large at Southwark Playhouse. (more...)
