He has written epic plays about Freud (Cocaine Dreams), Walter Benjamin (On the Border), Sartre, Camus, De Beauvoir (Living With History), Ted Bundy (Poetry Class With Serial Killer) and other cultural icons. George Spencer is a writer, film producer and director, and visual artist presently working on a large installation combining found objects, reconfigured furniture, soft sculpture, sound, video and lighting. Real crime numbers are likely much higher, as the statistics do not include the robberies that haven't been reported nor do they include crimes committed throughout the Downstate region, such as Long Island. The Las Vegas Philharmonic will perform 10 free concerts to schoolchildren in its annual Youth Concert Series. From Monday, January 12 through Friday, January 16, the orchestra will perform two 45-minute concerts each morning in Reynolds Hall at The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, reaching 15,000 fourth and fifth grade students from 132 schools throughout the Las Vegas Valley. The Flea Theater is proud to announce yet another extension of Kim Davies' World Premiere Smoke, directed by Flea Resident Director Tom Costello (The Wundelsteipen (and other difficult roles for young people)) and featuring members of The Bats, the resident acting company at The Flea. Says Producing Director Carol Ostrow, "where 50 Shades of Grey dances on the surface of BDSM, Smoke cuts to the core." Performances will now run through February 1, 2015 at The Flea, where performances started in August of 2014. (more...)
