Producers Cameron Mackintosh and The Really Useful Group announced today three principal cast changes for Broadway's blockbuster phenomenon, Andrew Lloyd Webber's THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, directed by theater legend, the late Harold Prince.

The Broadway community mourns the loss of prolific producer, director, writer, and the individual recipient of the most Tony Awards in multiple categories in history, Harold Prince, who passed away on July 31, 2019 at age 91. To commemorate his life and work, the Committee of Theatre Owners will dim the lights of Broadway theatres in New York for one minute on Wednesday, July 31 at exactly 7:45pm.

The musical Mary Poppins is currently playing at the Elbe Stage-Theatre in Hamburg. The show is based on the 1934 published novel about the famous nanny, created by Pamela L. Travers. Mary Poppins gained worldwide recognition through the 1964 movie with Julie Andrews and Dick van Dyke. In 1993, Cameron Mackintosh could convince Pamela L. Travers to take her novel to the stage.

The 72nd Annual Tony Awards are this Sunday June 10th at 8/9c hosted by Josh Groban and Sara Bareilles. It's the biggest award show of the Broadway season and it closes out a long awards season for Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals and plays. I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

This is 'Sunset Boulevard', a super production that premiered on March 22 at Teatro Santander, Sao Paulo, and marks the return to the stages of one of the most beloved Brazilian theater duo: Marisa Orth and Daniel Boaventura. They will be the protagonists of the seven Tony Awards winning musical, featuring songs by Andrew Lloyd Weber.

This weekend, Michael Crawford made a surprise appearance at the Huntington Beach Academy for the Performing Arts' production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA in Orange County, California. The Majestic Theatre announced its line-up of shows for the 2019-2020 North Park Lexus Broadway in San Antonio Season. Pop-culture phenomenon DEAR EVAN HANSEN and Disney's ALADDIN anchor the season with eight performances of DEAR EVAN HANSEN, December 17-22, 2019, and a three-week run of ALADDIN, March 25 April 12, 2020. With eight productions, the season includes a mixture of Blockbuster Tony Award -winners, acclaimed revivals, four market premieres and beloved family favorites.

Tonight, FOX will air their third live musical production. Following in the footsteps of Grease and A Christmas Story, the network will be presenting Jonathan Larson's Rent, a rock musical that is loosely based on Giacomo Puccini's 1896 opera, La boheme. The story follows a group of impoverished young artists struggling to survive and create a life in New York City's East Village in the thriving days of Bohemian Alphabet City, under the shadow of HIV/AIDS.

In the summer of 1993 renowned composer and jazz pianist Roy Budd's score for Rupert Julian's classic 1920s silent film The Phantom of the Opera was to set be performed in London. Then he had a brain haemorrhage. Nearly a quarter of a century later his widow, Sylvia, fulfilled his dream and Budd's masterpiece score to the 1925 Phantom of the Opera was performed at the London Coliseum on 08 October 2017, featuring the 77-piece orchestra. The performance received a resoundingly positive response from critics and audience alike.

Richard Kaufman Conducts New West Symphony featuring Dennis James on Pipe Organ and soprano Kristi Holden Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts (The Soraya) Saturday, November 3 at 8:00pm What a Holiday treat! The Phantom of the Opera celebrated its unprecedented 30th Anniversary in New York City on January 26, 2018. To mark the occasion, 30 designers were tasked to transform the look of the iconic Phantom mask -originally designed by Maria Bjornson and realized by milliner Rodney Gordon - in their own aesthetic vision for a one-of-a-kind mask.

A Halloween treat pairs live orchestra with the 1925 horror classic The Phantom of the Opera on The Soraya's large screen on Saturday, November 3 at 8:00pm. The original score ratchets up the spook factor with the world's foremost theater organ expert, Dennis James on the rare Allen theatre organ. CSUN alum Richard Kaufman returns to conduct the New West Symphony with the haunting score.

The world's most successful and best selling soprano Sarah Brightman will unveil her much anticipated fifteenth full-length album, HYMN, on November 9, 2018 on Decca Gold. This marks the multiplatinum GRAMMY award-nominated classical crossover pioneer's first new studio recording since she released the international chart-topper Dreamchaser in 2013.

I may be the only serious Broadway fan who has not seen Andrew Lloyd Weber's version of Phantom of the Opera, so I went into Westchester Broadway Theatre's Revival of Maury YestonArthur Kopit's Phantom with a completely open mind.

Broadway Sacramento announced the 2018 - 19 Broadway On Tour season at the Community Center Theater, sponsored by Wells Fargo, featuring four shows not previously presented in the series and three that are favorites of Broadway Sacramento audiences. The season features Sacramento premieres of On Your Feet!, Waitress, Aladdin, and The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical.
