The Garden of Dreams Foundation announced today that the 2019 Garden of Laughs event, presented by Delta Air Lines, once again raised more than $2 million for the Foundation to aid its efforts to make dreams come true for tri-state area children in need. Since its inception in 2013, the biennial Garden of Laughs comedy benefit has raised $7 million in total for the charity. In addition to a sold-out evening of comedy at Garden of Laughs, the Foundation also launched an exclusive online auction through Charitybuzz, where you can continue to support the Garden of Dreams Foundation by bidding on unforgettable packages and experiences, including meet-and-greets and tickets to sporting and entertainment events. Following the success of her Sense and Sensibility at the Folger Theatre in 2016, Wall Street Journal's Playwright of the Year 2017 Kate Hamill, returns to D.C. with her adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's classic novel Vanity Fair. Hamill's vibrant and colorful tale about society's foibles is a co-production with San Francisco's American Conservatory Theater. Directed by Jessica Stone and featuring Rebekah Brockman as Becky Sharp, the production will run at the Lansburgh Theatre (450 7th Street, NW) from February 26 through March 31, 2019.

James McCann Picks Up Three Gongs At The Adelaide Comedy Awards

Australian comedian, writer, poet, playwright, political philosopher, rapper and radio announcer James Donald Forbes McCann has picked up no less than three awards at the 2018 Adelaide Comedy awards. Other winners included Amos Gill, Fiona O'Loughlin, and Tom Gleeson. McCann was the only comedian to pick up more than a single award on the night.
