​The National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the Award Recipients for the 2022/2023 Writers Residency Grants.

The cast has been announced for the world premiere of BERLUSCONI at Southwark Playhouse. Rehearsals begin on 13 February with first preview on 25 March and press night on 29 March.

59E59 Theaters and The Civilians have announced the full cast & creative team for The Unbelieving by Marin Gazzaniga (So Close) and directed by Steve Cosson (Whisper House). The Unbelieving begins previews October 20, 2022, in Theater B and opens October 27 for a run through November 20, 2022.  

Gearing up for the holiday season, Jimmy Fallon, Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus have been cast as guest stars in NBC’s “Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas.” In addition to the legendary Dolly Parton in the lead role, the film will star Tom Everett Scott, Ana Gasteyer and Angel Parker.

Atlantic Theater Company has announced productions for its 2022-2023 season. Atlantic’s 2022-2023 season will include the world premiere musical Cornelia Street, with a book by Tony Award winner Simon Stephens, music and lyrics by Mark Eitzel, directed by Tony Award nominee Neil Pepe and more.

Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts has announced the musical event of the summer: Ragtime The Musical.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival's Southern Writers Festival of New Plays will return to the State's Theatre on July 16. The festival will feature readings of three new works - Kudzu Calling by Donnetta Lavinia Grays, Trouble at the Vista View Mobile Home Estates by Audrey Cefaly and Zelda in the Backyard by Elyzabeth Gregory Wilder.

TheatreWorks Silicon Valley will resume in-person performances when it launches its previously announced 51st season, featuring eight plays and musicals presented October 2021 through August 2022, kicking off with the new indie folk-rock musical Lizard Boy.

Michael Ritchie announced that he will retire as Artistic Director of Center Theatre Group on December 31, 2021. Having taken over the position from Founding Artistic Director Gordon Davidson in January, 2005, for more than 16 years, Ritchie has led one of the country’s largest nonprofit regional theatres, producing and presenting 266 productions.

BBTF will be the first theatre festival to open again live at Theatre Row, 410 42nd St. NYC NY September 6 through October 3, 2021. The Road Theatre Company has begun streaming playwright Steve Yockey’s REYKJAVÍK, their second show of their 2021 virtual season. Set in Reykjavík, Iceland, Ann Hearn Tobolowsky directs the REYKJAVÍK cast of Stephen Tyler Howell, Alaska Jackson, Carlos Lacamara, Brian Ibsen, Danny Lee Gomez and Jacqueline Misaye. Ann managed to find some time between REYKJAVÍK rehearsals, and being half of a beloved Los Angeles theatre acting/directing couple, to answer a few of my enquiries.
