'Howard Hodgkin: Absent Friends' On Display at National Portrait Gallery

Howard Hodgkin: Absent Friends is the first ever exhibition devoted to the portraits of the great British painter Howard Hodgkin, who died earlier this month at the age of 84. The exhibition shows the breadth and nature of Hodgkin's long-standing engagement with portraiture, an important aspect of his work that has been largely overlooked because his work appears abstract. With over 50 works from collections around the world and dating from 1949 to the present, the exhibition traces the development of Hodgkin's portraits, exploring his important contribution to our understanding of what constitutes a portrait and examining key themes within the artist's work: colour, memory, emotion and imagination. Announcing the Winners of Synchronicity Theatre's New Arts Incubator Project, STRIPPED BARE

On January 30, 2017, Atlanta's Synchronicity Theatre launched a test-run of Stripped Bare, a new arts incubator project that gives artists a space to create and produce new work. Designed for early-career artists, Stripped Bare focuses on projects that emphasize words and ideas, with minimal technical elements. For this first year, the program was available by invitation only. Invitations were sent to Atlanta-based artists who had at least one paid professional credit, but had not originated or created more than five professional projects. FIVE GUYS NAMED MOE Comes to Arts Asylum This Spring

This musical comedy is based on an earlier musical short of the same name by Louis Jordan from 1943. it had its UK debut in 1990 a the Theatre Royal Stratford East, running for over Four years in the West End and then premiering on Broadway in 1992. The story: features Nomax (played by Damron R Armstrong making a surprise  appearance in the last show of his inaugural season) whose broke and girlfriend has left him. He's then aided back to soberity by the band Five Guys Named Moe ( Big Moe - Douglass Walker, Four-eyed MoeNathaniel Rasson, Eat Moe - Rodney Thompson, No Moe - Christopher Barksdale and Little Moe - Francisco "Pancho" Villeage) who seem to emerge from his radio to take him on a comedic musical journey of selfawareness.
